A Thoughtful Second-Floor Addition + Renovation

This Westport, Connecticut renovation began with the goal of creating a more functional and luxurious second floor for a busy family. The project included a new primary bathroom addition along with the renovation of three bathrooms, a bedroom and the primary closet—transforming the entire floor into a more cohesive and thoughtfully designed part of the home.

Working alongside Peter Stofa & Company and Rountree Architects, we approached the renovation with equal attention to beauty, function and the architectural character of the existing home. Both firms specialize in residential renovation and construction in Fairfield County, with Rountree Architects based in Westport and Peter Stofa & Company based in Fairfield.

Creating a Primary Suite That Feels Like a Retreat

The new primary bathroom was designed to feel elevated and serene while still functioning beautifully for everyday life. Thoughtful material selections, lighting, cabinetry and architectural details give the space a sense of permanence and luxury without feeling overly formal.

Throughout the second floor, we carried that same approach into the additional bathrooms, bedroom and primary closet. Each space was considered individually while maintaining a consistent design language throughout the renovation.

Beautiful Design Built Around Everyday Life

For us, successful renovations aren't simply about selecting beautiful finishes. They're about improving how a home functions for the people who live there.

By reconsidering the second-floor layout and adding valuable square footage where it mattered most, the Dogwood project created a more comfortable, functional and cohesive family home while preserving the character of the original house.

The finished spaces feel fresh and elevated but completely at home within the existing architecture—a balance we strive for in every renovation.
