SHORE CLIFF

A Fresh California Family Home

Perched on the bluffs in Los Angeles' Westchester neighborhood, this family home had an incredible location and a wonderful sense of community, but the interiors still reflected its 1990s construction. Builder-grade finishes, decorative trim and dated details distracted from the home's light-filled spaces and relaxed California setting.

Our goal was to simplify the architecture and create a home that felt fresh, clean and distinctly Californian, while still being warm and comfortable enough for everyday family life.

The transformation began by removing unnecessary decorative trim, installing new blonde hardwood floors and visually simplifying the interiors. The kitchen got a renovation with new countertops, paints and shelving, A palette of bright whites and soft, warm hues immediately gave the house a lighter, more modern feel and created a quiet backdrop for the furnishings, art and objects that would follow.

Modern, Warm & Collected

With the architectural backdrop simplified, we introduced modern furnishings, layered rugs, natural materials and contemporary art to bring warmth and personality into each room.

Rather than creating spaces that felt overly designed, we wanted the home to feel collected. Objects and pieces reflecting the family's love of travel were incorporated throughout, giving the rooms a personal story and creating the layered quality that makes a home feel established over time.

Clean lines are balanced by organic textures, warm woods, comfortable upholstery and thoughtfully selected accessories, creating interiors that feel modern without ever feeling stark.

California Living Designed for Family

The finished home reflects the relaxed way this family lives—bright, welcoming and sophisticated without being precious.

By stripping away the dated architectural details and focusing on a quieter palette, modern furnishings and meaningful pieces, we were able to transform a conventional 1990s house into a warm California home that feels both current and personal.
