Collected Coastal Living in Westport

This Westport, Connecticut new construction offered an incredible starting point—beautiful millwork, a thoughtful layout and a stunning property—but our clients wanted the interiors to feel more personal and collected.

For this nearly 10,000-square-foot family home, Chestnut Hill Interiors developed a comprehensive furniture, art and décor plan that brought warmth and character to the newly built spaces. The goal was to create a home that felt coastal and relaxed without becoming predictable or overly themed.

Our clients love to travel, entertain and spend time with family, so every room needed to feel welcoming and comfortable while maintaining a clean, elevated aesthetic. We layered natural textures, warm neutrals, vintage-inspired pieces, original art and thoughtfully selected furnishings to give the home a sense of history and personality.

Designed for Family & Entertaining

Throughout the home, we focused on creating spaces that could transition effortlessly from everyday family life to entertaining. Generous seating, comfortable materials and intentional layouts make the larger rooms feel inviting rather than formal, while quieter spaces provide places to read, work and unwind.

Rather than filling a new home with furnishings that all felt as though they came from the same place, we approached the interiors as a collection. Art, accessories and pieces inspired by the family's travels were mixed with new furnishings to create rooms that feel layered over time.

A Fresh Take on Coastal Interior Design

The home's Westport setting naturally influenced the design, but we intentionally avoided a traditional coastal formula. Instead, subtle references to the Connecticut coast come through in the relaxed palette, organic materials, natural textures and light-filled spaces.

The result is a home that feels polished but never precious—clean, comfortable and deeply personal to the family who lives there.
